Redmond event featured national military officers association board member Marvin Heinze

Capt. Marvin Heinze, national Military Officers Association of America board member and member of the council and chapters committee and communications committee, spoke at the Central Oregon Chapter’s dinner meeting on Sept. 18.

The event was in the Juniper Golf Course’s View Tap and Grill Restaurant at Redmond. Heinze spoke on terrorism threats today as well as the importance of continuing to serve your community and nation.

Over his 28-year career in Navy special operations and explosive ordnance disposal, Heinze commanded EOD units at the detachment, unit and group level. Capt. Heinze retired from the U.S. Navy in 2008. His final active duty assignment was chief of staff, sixth fleet/joint force maritime component command in Europe.

His post-retirement career has focused on the defense of the United States, serving as a senior civilian with the Navy’s Mine Warfare Task Force, specializing in protecting North American ports and harbors and providing consulting support in homeland security, emergency preparedness and disaster response.

Heinze visited from his home in Coronado, Calif. where he is an elected councilmember of the city of Coronado.

The Central Oregon Chapter (COMOAA) was founded in 1981. COMOAA is an active organization of over 80 members whose primary residence is central Oregon. It is both a social and service organization. Membership is open to war veterans of any uniformed service. The local chapter supports junior ROTC students with annual college scholarship awards competition. COMOAA also supports deployed troops.
