Marvin Heinze Receives The Department Of The Navy Superior Civilian Service Award

In a COVID appropriate ceremony, Capt. Chris Merwin, USN, Deputy Director, Navy Mine Warfare Task force presented the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award award to Coronado City Councilmember Marvin Heinze on behalf of Admiral Aquilino on July 10.

Admiral JC Aquilino, Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet has awarded Marvin Heinze the Department of the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award for his accomplishments in improving the readiness of the Navy to clear underwater threats to critical U.S. ports. As the Director of the Homeland Underwater Port Assessment Program in the Navy Mine Warfare Task Force, Heinze led the integration of the Coast Guard Defense Forces Command as an operational command for combined Navy/Coast Guard homeland and mine countermeasures operations.

In a COVID appropriate ceremony, Capt. Chris Merwin, USN, Deputy Director, Navy Mine Warfare Task force presented the award on behalf of Admiral Aquilino on July 10. The Navy Superior Civilian Service Award is the second highest award for Navy Civilian employees.

Mr. Heinze retired from the civil service at the end of 2019.
